By accessing or using the services provided by American Gemological Appraisals (“AGA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully before registering or placing an order.
AGA provides professional jewelry appraisal services to registered retail jewelry stores and their clients. Our services include gemological examination, written appraisal reports, and the issuance of AGA Appraisal Certificates with QR verification.
AGA operates exclusively as an independent appraisal service. We do not purchase, sell, broker, or provide valuations for the purpose of facilitating sales. All appraisals are for insurance, estate, legal, or documentation purposes only.
To submit items for appraisal, you must register as a business account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
Each appraisal certificate is priced per submission based on the complexity tier selected (Basic, Standard, or Comprehensive). Payment is due at the time of submission. All transactions are processed securely through Stripe. Fees are non-refundable once the appraisal examination has commenced.
Standard appraisal turnaround is 3 to 5 business days from the date of submission and payment confirmation. Certificates are available for pickup at our Midtown Manhattan office. We will notify you by email when your certificate is ready. AGA is not responsible for delays caused by incomplete or inaccurate submission information.
AGA Appraisal Certificates reflect the assessed replacement value of the item at the time of examination. Values are subject to change with market conditions. AGA recommends updating appraisals every 2 to 3 years for insurance purposes.
Certificates are intended for insurance scheduling, claims processing, estate settlement, resale documentation, and legal proceedings. AGA makes no guarantees regarding acceptance by any specific insurance carrier, as acceptance is subject to each insurer’s individual policies.
You are responsible for the accuracy of all item information provided to AGA during the submission process. AGA’s appraisal is based on the item as presented and the information provided at the time of examination. Submitting false or misleading information may void the certificate and result in account termination.
All AGA certificate designs, report formats, QR verification systems, and website content are the intellectual property of American Gemological Appraisals. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.
AGA’s liability arising out of or related to these Terms or our services shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific appraisal in question. AGA is not liable for consequential, incidental, or indirect damages. Appraisal values are professional opinions and not guarantees of market or resale value.
AGA reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, misuse the platform, or engage in fraudulent activity. Certificates issued to terminated accounts remain valid records in the AGA database.
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New York. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of New York County, New York.
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of our services after modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify registered users of material changes by email.
